France:Activities in the Holidays village at the Lac des Estives

In addition to flyfishing, you'll have plenty of activities on the spot or at short distance of the Village of Estives. During the good season, you can discover the breathtaking scenery of Cézallier and the Cantal Volcanoes on foot or on a mountain bike. And in winter, you'll start crosscountry skiing from your cottage door, making your path in the fresh snow and enjoying the great vistas of the snow covered fields.
In the vicinity, at a short driving distance, 8 or 10km, Movie theater, tennis, and 2 riding schools are availables. Lastly, you can enjoy a day riding an old railway on bicycle-rail!

A new indoor swimming pool will open in spring 2006, with a 100sq.m pool and a 1.65m depth, it is a perfect place to relax and play with your kids. Or you can take the sun on a lounge chair on the paved deck.
Hiking and mountain bike trails : In the mountains,many trails are well marked . They range from daily family walks to long distance trails. The open landscapes of the large meadows alternate with the wooded valleys to offer beautiful scenery. You can also, quite simply,with your children, have a walk or ride a bicycle, on the paths which leads from the Village to the meadows . The paths are safe , without cars and you will discover the area flora and fauna . And in the wooded park of the Village, your children can play safely. Horses riding A complete horseback tour of Cantal is in preparation: the trails, gates and lodging are being organized. The opening will be in June 2002. Lac des Estives Village is already selected as a lodge for the riders with full accomodation for the horses and the riders.
Crosscountry Skiing: During winter, the fields around the village are covered with snow and the gentle slopes make for great crosscountry skiing. Or you can start from Montgreleix or from Marcenat at 8km to ski on free trails. For all these activities, informations, guides, leaflets and maps are available in the Lodge.
